Frequently asked questions

Got a question? I got the answer.

  • The first step is reaching out via my contact form or email with as much detail as you can share: your genre, a short synopsis, the formats you need (ebook, paperback, hardcover, dust jacket), and any visual inspiration or deadlines. The more you tell me upfront, the more accurate my timeline and budget estimate will be. After I receive your message, I'll invite you to a free Cover Discovery Call where we discuss the full project scope, creative direction and a realistic production schedule.

  • I design custom book covers (ebook, paperback, hardcover, dust jackets), primarily for fiction, fantasy, sci-fi and speculative fiction authors. Every cover is handcrafted from scratch. I do not use templates or generative AI in any part of the design process. Each cover is built to grab attention in online marketplaces like Amazon, Kobo and IngramSpark. I also create series cover branding so your books feel cohesive across multiple titles.

  • Yes. I format interior pages for both fiction and non-fiction, ready for print-on-demand platforms (KDP, IngramSpark, Lulu) and ebook distribution. Clean typography, chapter headings, drop caps and custom scene break elements are all standard. I can also design beautiful chapter heading illustrations, fantasy maps and author signature pages. Some of these features do carry an extra fee.

  • My design is strongest in fantasy, dark fantasy, romance and literary fiction. That said, I love a genre-bending challenge. My portfolio shows range, but I'm most sought-after for covers that feel literary, mystical and immersive.

  • I start with a free 30-minute discovery Call where I learn about your book, your characters and feelings/emotion you want to evoke. After that, using the creative brief, I design 2 initial concept designs. You give feedback, we refine your chose direction and I deliver final print-ready files. I keep the process collaborative but guided, you get a professional cover without needing to be a designer yourself. I usually need around 2 weeks from kickoff to final delivery, depending on my current booking queue, the scope of the design and waiting time for feedback. Each cover design process also includes 3 free revision rounds. Extra revision rounds can be arranged at an hourly fee.

  • Absolutely. I help authors build a visual identity that stretches across books, websites and social media. This includes author logos, brand color palettes, typography systems, social media templates and author websites. If you're launching your author career or rebranding an existing backlist, we can create a cohesive brand that makes you recognisable at a glance.

  • Yes, I actively partner with indie presses. I offer a flexible retainer and bulk project packages for publishers who need consistent, high-quality cover design. If you're a publisher that focusses on fiction, fantasy and romance, we speak the same language.

  • I recommend reaching out at least 4-6 weeks before you need final cover files. My calendar can fill quickly, especially during pre-launch seasons. Some authors reserve a slot months ahead while finishing their manuscript, some ask for a cover design months before publishing. A discovery call early in your process helps me plan and keeps your launch timeline on track.

  • Yes, hand-drawn fantasy maps and illustrated chapter headers or scene dividers are some of my favorite commissions. These can be bundled with your cover design or booked as separate projects. A beautifully crafted map adds an extra layer of reader immersion and looks stunning in special edition hardbacks or as promotional art.

  • Yes, absolutely. If you're publishing across multiple formats, it's best if you know this from the very beginning. I offer full-format book cover packages that multiple or all four as a bundled price, which is more cost-effective than ordering them separately. I'll prepare your paperback and hardcover covers with correct spine widths, a separate dust jacket layout and an ebook front cover optimised for digital retailers like Amazon and Kobo.

  • My standard custom cover design process includes two distinct initial concept directions. Each concept explores a different visual interpretation of your story, giving you a genuine creative choice. If you'd like more than two starting concepts, I can provide additional design options upon request for an extra free.

  • A standard cover design project includes three complimentary revision rounds, which is usually more than enough to fine-tune typography, colour and composition. If the project needs extra rounds beyond that (for example if the creative direction shifts significantly after a certain point) I'm happy to accommodate those, billed at an additional hourly rate. I'll always let you know before any extra fee applies.

  • Yes. When I deliver your final cover files, I always include high-quality photo and video mockups. These show your cover on paperback and hardback books, e-readers and in atmospheric settings, perfect for sharing on Instagram, TikTok, your website or in your newsletter. They're designed to be ready to post, so you can build anticipation for your book before it ever hits the printer.
